THYROID EVALUATION & MANAGEMENT
Understanding Your Thyroid Health Starts With the Full Picture
Thyroid function is one part of a much larger picture of your health. When thyroid concerns arise, understanding your symptoms, medical history and laboratory results can help determine whether thyroid function may be contributing to how you feel.
At AZ Hormone Health & Wellness, thyroid care begins with a comprehensive evaluation. We consider your health history, medications, symptoms, risk factors, goals and appropriate laboratory testing before determining what next steps may be appropriate.
Thyroid-related concerns don't always exist in isolation.
Hormonal changes, metabolic health, nutrition, sleep, stress, medications and other health factors may also contribute to how you feel. That's why our approach considers thyroid function alongside hormonal, metabolic, nutritional and lifestyle factors rather than focusing on a single symptom or laboratory result.
Your evaluation is individualized based on your symptoms, medical history, medications, risk factors and health goals.
Laboratory Testing Based on Your Individual Needs
Appropriate laboratory testing can help provide a more complete picture of thyroid function.
Depending on your individual needs, testing may include:
-
TSH
-
Free T4
-
Free T3 when indicated
-
Thyroid antibodies
Additional laboratory testing may also be considered when clinically appropriate based on your overall health and symptoms. Not every patient requires every test.
Individualized Thyroid Management
When evaluation and laboratory findings indicate a thyroid concern, we'll discuss what those findings mean and which next steps may be appropriate for you.
AZ Hormone Health & Wellness provides management of uncomplicated hypothyroidism as part of its medical and healthy-aging care. Treatment decisions are based on your symptoms, medical history, risk factors, examination and laboratory results.
When findings suggest a condition requiring more specialized evaluation or treatment, referral to an endocrinologist, primary care provider or another appropriate specialist may be recommended.

Thyroid Health Is Part of Your Overall Health
Thyroid function can intersect with many of the other areas we consider when evaluating your health, including hormones, metabolism, weight, nutrition, sleep, energy and stage of life.
Looking at these areas together helps us develop a more complete understanding of your health and determine whether thyroid management, another area of care or additional evaluation may be appropriate.
